Wood – burning stoves are an easy and energy – efficient way of introducing fire into your home. Not only are they incredibly effective, warming up entire rooms very quickly, they are also the most renewable source of heating in the UK. According to the Centre For Alternative Technology, burning wood produces the same amount of carbon dioxide that the wood absorbed while it was growing. If it hadn’t been burnt, this carbon dioxide would have been released anyway when the tree died and rotted. Stoves come in a bewildering array of designs. The most recent trend is for freestanding models, like those at  Focus. For a huge range of designes, visit the Stoveland website.

A slightly circular, appealing design, whose extremely curved front displays the flames in the optimum way. Quite simply a beautiful sculpture and highly functional stove combined.Design: Architect Anders C. Fasterholdt. The curved panoramic glass front and the spacious countersunk combustion chamber are placed at a convenient height, making the stove easy to operate and light. The stove is designed with a practical container which is simply removed to clear the ashtray, rounded edges ideal for families with children, HWAMs window air wash system which helps prevent the glass pane from sooting up, large convection ducts and very simple operation.
